Chase Scenes

Chase Scenes

In our new thriller film, we are looking to include a key aspect of thriller films into it-a chase scene. Below I am going to analyse some chase scenes in films.

This chase scene is from Casino Royale , and I think the first real thing to notice is the music. The use of tension building atmospheric music makes the chase scene seem fast and dangerous, something I'd like to incorporate. The camera shots are also very important, with a fast cutting speed and frequent cuts from a long distance to close ups increasing the speed and tension of the film.

This chase scene is from the french film District 13. Again notice, the fast-paced music with a beat used to show the speed and pace of the chase scene, something I feel is essential we put into our chase scene. Also throughout, there is small parts where the music briefly stops and a sound-effect or voice over is used before going back into the sound track, this is also very effective as it helps develop the story without taking away from the action
