Overall it was a film I would like to take some parts from, as the key themes of isolation and the constant edge about the film are impacts I would like to see in our final piece.

The Machinist
As a part of my research, I also watched the Machinist, a highly rated film which is a fantastic example of a psychological thriller. The main character (played by Christopher Nolan), constantly doubts his sanity and in the end a twist ending is used to tell us the truth. I found this film very useful to my research, as typical thriller conventions were used throughout, such as suspense, tension and excitement and lots of plot twists and cliff-hangers. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout, and despite the character being perceived as bad by the end of the film, the film does seem to resolve at some kind of "happy ending", as the main character atones for his sins.

I couldn't find the opening sequence to this film, so I have supplied the trailer to give a basic understanding of the film.
